The FiiO JT9, also called the JadeAudio JT9, is a foldable, open-back planar magnetic headphone with a 95 × 86 mm driver and a 1 µm sapphire-and-aluminum-coated diaphragm. Rated at 95 dB/mW and 20 Ω, it can run from a phone and dongle DAC, suiting listeners who want planar sound in a frame they can pack.
Who the FiiO JT9 is for
First planar on portable gear: FiiO says a smartphone with a portable DAC/amp dongle drives it comfortably, helped by its 95 dB/mW sensitivity.
Listening away from home: The frame folds and a waterproof carrying case comes in the box, so it packs for trips to a quiet hotel room or a second desk.
Balanced dongle or DAP owners: Both a 3.5 mm single-ended and a 4.4 mm balanced cable are included, so it plugs straight into either output.
Detail-focused listening: FiiO pairs a 1 µm diaphragm with a sapphire-plus-aluminum coating, aiming for fast transients and clean treble detail.
Skip it if: you need isolation for commuting, shared offices or late-night listening next to someone: as an open-back design it leaks sound out and lets outside noise in.

FiiO JT9 vs similar options
vs FiiO FT1 Pro: Shares the JT9's 95 × 86 mm planar size, 20 Ω and 95 dB/mW ratings, tuned near-neutral in FiiO's FT1 chassis; the JT9 folds and ships with a waterproof case, so pick it for travel.
vs FiiO JT7: Lighter at 318 g (vs 365 g) and cheaper, with a 3 µm diaphragm against the JT9's 1 µm sapphire-aluminum-coated film; pick the JT7 to save weight, the JT9 for its thinner coated diaphragm.
vs HIFIMAN Edition XS: A full-size stealth-magnet open-back that is happiest at a desk with a proper amp or capable dongle; pick the JT9 to fold it away and run it from a phone dongle.
