The SMSL SU-1 is the compact entry into SMSL's SU line: an AK4493S converter behind an XMOS XU316 interface, decoding MQA and MQA-CD and handling PCM to 768kHz/32bit plus DSD512. For a unit this small, the spec sheet is close to the full-size boxes.

It's a DAC only, which is the point — buy it when you already have a headphone amplifier or active monitors and want a clean, small, well-specified source in front of them. Two-box systems built around the SU-1 and a separate amp tend to age better than all-in-ones, since you can upgrade either half independently. It's also a good desk-space answer where a full-width chassis simply won't fit.
